About Me

I'm an LPC-S (Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor) who has been practicing in the mental health field since 2006.

While I love working with individuals, and individual therapy currently comprises approximately one-third of my practice, I quickly discovered my absolute passion for working with couples in Couple's Counseling, and this is the area I've become most known for throughout my years in practice. I'm also a wife and mother of two myself, and so I can personally relate to how challenging marriage can be at times! In this way, most clients find that I'm not only an expert source for information and tools, but that I'm also relatable and easy to talk to as well.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy cooking, going to the movies with my husband Jim, adventures in being a mom to Jack and Samantha, and getting out to our family ranch in west Texas as often as we can.

Professional Training:

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology – Texas A&M University
  • Masters Degree in Professional Counseling – Texas State University, specialized in both individual and marriage and family therapy
  • Certified in Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Counseling

Scheduling

Schedule an Appointment

Rates

  • Individual Counseling - $150/50 min session
  • Couples Counseling - $185/50 min session
  • 90-minute extended session - $250 flat

Payment

I accept cash, check, credit cards and health savings account (HSA) cards.

Cancellations

When you schedule an appointment with me that time slot is reserved especially for you and you will be responsible for paying my full rate of $150 ($185 for couples) unless you can provide me with a minimum 24 hours' notice of the need to cancel. The late cancellation fee for a missed 90 minute appointment is $200. Please note that insurance does not cover cancellation fees.

Insurance

I do not accept insurance for many reasons. Taking insurance would mean that I'm required to formally diagnose all of my clients with a psychiatric mental disorder, which in many cases is neither appropriate nor necessary for treatment. I also believe that decisions regarding your care is up to us to decide and not your insurance company.

Telehealth Services

Currently, I shift between offering all sessions via telehealth and in person as COVID fluctuates and according to Austin's current stage of risk-based guidelines. In any season, I'm happy to offer all sessions via telehealth as long as it is clinically appropriate for those who feel more comfortable not coming into the office.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have out of network mental health benefits with my insurance policy. How can I receive those benefits if you don't accept my insurance?
With the exception of BCBS PPO policy holders, upon request I can offer you a superbill which insurance companies typically ask for to reflect payment received and treatment provided. By submitting this form, you'll likely receive a portion reimbursed back to you by your insurance company by submitting this form. However, this is an arrangement between you and your insurance company which means I personally cannot guarantee your reimbursement.
I want to make sure you're a good fit for me/us. Do you offer complimentary phone consultations or meet and greet sessions before we start therapy?
Getting to the bottom of this very important question is the sole focus of our first full therapy session together. I've also made exhausted efforts to make my practice website and professional social media pages as informative as possible so that most clients can make an educated decision as to whether or not I would likely be a good fit for them, and whether or not it's worth investing in scheduling that first appointment with me.
Why is therapy so expensive?/Why do you have a limited number of spaces available for insurance paying clients?
Great question! Here is a quick and helpful article that explains why this is becoming a common practice. Read the article
